What diet can do for you

Many of us have the mindset that we need to treat our skin with urgency. We should, but this usually leads to finding a ‘quick fix’ by buying pharmaceutical creams and ointments. We should instead be treating ourselves in a way that’s really going to make a lasting difference through diet.
I was so fed up with putting lotions and ointments on myself all the time. Cortisone creams, etc. are not a cure! They do not fix the problem, it just subsides it temporarily until you later need to use it again. Not to mention the effects of prolonged use of these creams like thinned skin, and often makes it harder for you to heal naturally when you stop using the cream.

What is a diet?

Many people cringe at the sound of the word “diet”; but the truth is, you’ve always had a diet and you always will! Although today, a very large majority of the world doesn’t have what you would consider a ‘healthy’ diet. So all we’re doing is changing our diet to benefit ourselves.
If you’ve never followed a diet plan before this may seem overwhelming, or difficult. In reality, this diet is more simple than what you’re probably doing now! This diet includes more organic whole foods, with less ingredients and no chemicals! I feel eczema is a departure from nature, and therefore, your health. There are so many chemicals and foreign ingredients in our food these days, it’s hard to believe we can still call it food.

How this diet affects our skin

Our bodies are made from the food that we eat and the air that we breath. Which means if you’re eating food covered in pesticides and filled with chemicals, it’s going to have an impact on your health and your skin’s health. If you’re breathing in smoke filled with chemicals, it’s going to have an impact.
In order to achieve optimum health, we must receive over 50 kinds of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fatty acids on a daily basis. That may sound like a lot, but don’t worry, we can easily get everything we need just from the foods that we eat. Processed foods, however remove many of the nutrients that we desperately need, and often contain harmful substances that will negatively affect our skin.
The most common forms of eczema are often caused primarily through malnutrition and an unhealthy diet. We can recover from this by eating natural whole foods, fresh fruit and vegetable juices, super food supplements and concentrates to detox our bodies. So this is what our diets are based on.
We don’t take pills or individual supplements because other nutrients need to work together in addition. It’s also easier for our bodies to absorb these nutrients through real food rather than something in pill form.

Making the change

Changing your diet seems like a struggle for many people, as it was for me at first. I found out, though that if I set goals for myself I was much more likely to try to challenge myself and actually do something about my diet. Once you begin seeing real results there’s no looking back! If you REALLY want to get rid of your eczema or psoriasis or what have you, you’ll find a way.
If you’re like me, you might eat a lot more fast food than you should, a lot of meat, a lot of dairy and a lot of sugary foods or drinks like pop or chocolate bars. I’ve now feel I was addicted to these types of food. I found myself craving these things even though we all know consciously they’re awful for us. I now feel I was destroying my body, and depriving myself of what I really deserved.
The great thing about this diet is that you don’t have to dive into it! If you wish, you can ease into by making small adjustments here and there until you’re all the way in!

You owe it to yourself to be healthy!

Your body deserves vitamins and nutrients! From real fruits and vegetables! I don’t mean having a small side of broccoli with a giant portion of steak. I mean having full out, fully nutritious meals 3 times a day, 7 days a week. I find organic fruits and veggies are full of more nutrition than your conventional genetically modified foods, which means trying to stay away from as much processed food as you can.
It makes it easier to eat healthy if you replace a bad habit like smoking with preparing a meal. In the time it takes you to have a few cigarettes, you could take that time to make a nutritious meal that’s going to benefit your skin rather than destroy it.
