Research shows that apples are extremely beneficial to our health. These contain high levels of anti-oxidants which are known for their disease-fighting compounds, fiber that scientists have linked to protect us from Parkinson’s, and flavonol which is known to reduce risk of developing cancer of the pancreas. Of course, many of us know that eating apple also helps whiten and strengthen our teeth.
But do you know that apples are also highly recommended as an eczema treatment? Completely natural since there is no artificial process involved, the apple detox program rids your body of toxins it has accumulated, and as a result, prevents outbreaks in the future.

 How it works

This eczema treatment is perhaps the easiest way of address this condition, even if also comes with its fair share of sacrifices. Compared with other treatment options, it’s relatively quick, requiring you to eat only apples for two to three days.
Simple, right? But highly effective. What this apple detox program does is to cleanse  your body of toxins which have built up in your system over time. According to experts, the accumulation of toxins in our body triggers new eczema outbreaks in individuals who already have this condition.
These toxins slowly build up in our system through our incessant consumption of  processed and junk food. Smoking likewise increases the build up of toxins.
It is only through detoxification, in this case apple detox, that our body can cleanse itself of these harmful toxins. Besides improving our metabolism and overall health, this detoxification also helps in preventing future outbreaks among eczema patients.

Apple Detox As A Perfect Complement To Your Eczema Treatment

By preventing future outbreaks, apple detox is therefore the perfect complement to the eczema treatment you are currently undergoing right now. Whether you are using creams or ointments, going on this detoxification program optimizes the benefits of your present treatment. You need not worry of future outbreaks, after all!

 Getting Started With The Program

Eating apples only for two to three straight days is not as easy as it sounds, that is why before you even embark on this eczema treatment, you should be 100% committed to it. You need to stay focused on your goal and resist every temptation that might come your way.
Stack up on apples of different varieties. The more varieties of apples you have in your fridge, the easier it is to stick to your apple detox program.
The morning after buying the apples, start with your program, and stick with it for the next two to three days. Do not eat anything besides apple, and if you are thirsty, drink pure apple juice or shake – one that is not mixed with water, sugar, or ice.
It is normal for you to experience headaches, mood swings, as well as stomach upsets at first. This is a good sign since this indicates that the program is effective. As you begin to make this a habit – it is suggested that you undergo apple detox once or twice a month – you will no longer feel these withdrawal symptoms.
Since a degenerative disease can be caused by nutritional deficiencies and the accumulation of toxic waste in the human body, it follows that in order to heal from a disease, whether in the form of eczema, ulcers, obesity or whatever, detoxification must first take place. The healing process takes place in three stages of detoxification: 1. elimination of toxins, 2. breakdown and removal of diseased cells and 3. rebuilding of tissues. (*These steps assume the daily intake of good nutrients and ceasing the intake of toxins from all sources.) Follow these stages of detoxification and you will find your body healing from eczema.

Detoxification stages:

1. Elimination of toxins: This is the discarding of toxins stored throughout the tissues of the body. These are eliminated once a good diet provides the minerals and organic nutrients to cells to generate enough energy to carry toxins out of the body via the elimination processes.
Toxins are eliminated through various channels, the normal channels with their signs of elimination are:
  • Lungs (breathed out - may manifest as bad breath, coughing)
  • Skin (a worsening of the eczema condition)*
  • Liver/bowel (dark, foul smelling stools)
  • Kidneys (dark, strong smelling urine)
* In eczema, the normal channels of elimination (kidney and liver) are overtaxed and the body ends up using an alternate avenue of elimination; the skin. Therefore, when you start improving your diet and following what is being recommended by this website, the body will first heal the overtaxed and congested detoxification organs (kidney and liver). As a result your eczema, in the initial few weeks of this healing program, will get worse because of the cleansing that takes place in the liver and kidney. However, don't give up. A natural healing of eczema takes patience.
First 3 months of this diet and supplements eczema spread all over my body.

2. Breakdown and removal of diseased cellsCells which are diseased from "toxin abuse" are broken down by the body and removed. The breaking down of the diseased cells is carried out mainly by white blood cells. If any of the raw materials of the cell can be salvaged and reused they are put into circulation; the rest is eliminated from the body. This process is important to a natural eczema healing.

3. Rebuilding of tissuesWhen diseased cells are eliminated, the body will replace them with new healthy cells. Though this phase begins with the above two phases, the majority of this activity takes place after the body is well on its way to being "detoxified" and "diseased tissue" free. Prior to this final major rebuilding phase, the body will replace diseased tissues one generation at a time, each generation of cells will be a little healthier than its predecessors, because a cell can only be as healthy, as its environment is detoxified. Thus, there is no instant relief in natural healing. The natural healing of eczema takes time.

The body replaced diseased tissues one generation at a time.

Healing is done on a priority basis:

Just as the body was formed and operates on a priority basis, so it heals on a priority basis. This means that the most important parts of the body get the healing attention before the less vital tissues.

In the natural healing process for eczema, the healing of the internal detoxification organs will take place first before the skin. In fact, the skin is the last organ the body will work on to heal. Therefore, expect the intestinal tract, the endocrine glands, the liver and the kidney to be involved in healing actions and repair processes first before the skin. This is the reason why your eczema will feel and look a lot worse in the beginning of this healing program. The more medical drugs and herbal formulas you have taken to suppress the symptoms of eczema, the longer it will take to heal your damaged skin.

For example, in my case, with the many years of using cortisone cream, after starting the recommended diet and supplement program, it took months of worsening of my eczema condition before my skin got better. I encourage you to follow the natural eczema healing approach without resorting to these lotions that suppress the symptoms of eczema.
It took months of worsening of my eczema condition before my skin got better.

Reactivation/retracing (the process of healing):

In order for the body to deal with or heal a part of the body, it must bring it into priority or reactivate it. This means that the body is bringing to the surface or focusing on a specific gland, organ, system or tissue of the body for cleansing/rebuilding activity. This gland, organ, system or tissue of the body has been "on hold" from healing activity due to lack of nutrients, emotional stress, other priorities, etc.

When a diseased or previously injured area of the body is brought back into focus or reactivated for healing, the symptoms that went with that particular stress will again manifest themselves to some degree. Remember that the symptoms the body manifested with the original disease or injury were an attempt at healing. This, of course, was somehow blocked with drugs or stress of some kind; thus the symptoms and healing were put "on hold". Now with reactivation, the same healing symptoms will once again manifest themselves.

Let me translate the above statement and describe how reactivation and retracing (a healing crisis) occurred through my own detoxification process.Since I have taken 15+ years of cortisone cream, tons of antibiotics and over-the-counter pain medications, I had a lot of toxins to clean out of my body, specifically the kidney and liver. If I did not understand how detoxification worked, I would have given up early on because of the discomfort I experienced and gone back on the use of cortisone. Thank God, I endured my months of detoxification so that today I could enjoy an awesome state of health and vitality. A natural eczema healing takes lots of patience and time, but it's well worth it.

Some of the symptoms I experienced during the healing crisis were very scary. However, keep in mind that your experience with detoxification may not be the same as mine. Remember that I have taken cortisone cream for 15+ years and as a result my detoxification symptoms were strong and continued for a long period of time. The fewer medications you have taken to suppress the eczema symptoms, the sooner your detoxification symptoms will disappear.

Here are some of the reactivation and retracing symptoms that I experienced.
  • Swelling of my feet. Cortisone is an anti-inflammatory drug and during retracing, the body will exhibit the opposite of the symptoms the drugs were trying to suppress. I experienced so much swelling in my feet that at one point I could not wear shoes, only wide-type slippers. During the time my feet were swollen, the pain was horrible, especially when I would wake up in the morning and start walking.

  • Swelling of the face. I experienced so much swelling in my face that at one point my face looked like someone has taken a pump and blew air inside my cheeks. The skin on my face became very scaly and peeled as if I had dandruff falling off my facial skin. This was the most scary retracing episode I have ever experienced. I attribute this retracing episode to steroid shots given to me by a medical doctor to help me gain weight when I was 16 years old.
I experienced extreme swelling of my face that lasted 3 weeks. This was the most scary retracing episode I have ever experienced. Steroids coming out of my body caused my feet and face to swell up.

My skin looked so old and scaly during detoxification
  • The itching drove me crazy at night. Sometimes I itched my skin so hard to the point that my skin would bleed and I didn't care because it felt good. But the pain that followed from open scabs and bleeding skin at times became unbearable.

Extreme internal heaton the skin where there is eczema, especially at night time.

  • Flu-like symptoms with or without fever.

  • Extreme tiredness.

  • Increase in itching.

  • Diarrhea and bloating.

  • Coughing that lasted for months with yellow mucous discharge. Since I had chronic bronchitis, I expected to experience severe coughing during the retracing phase and I did.

  • During a healing crisis, the eczema may spreadanywhere in your body: ears, nose, mouth...etc.
Look at it this way. It took a while for the nutritional deficiencies and accumulation of toxins that affected you to cause eczema. It may take a while to undo the effects of all the painful and stressful things that you (unknowingly and unconsciously) did to your body, just like I did. This is rather like a reverse source of pain or discomfort, yet this time it is for a good cause.

Remember, pain/discomfort isn't always bad. It can be a warning that something is wrong and it can also be a sign that something good is happening as the muscles, organs, and tissues of your body begin to activate again. Knowing what to expect about beneficial pain/discomfort will help you understand and expect it. After all, it's for a good cause.

Does this discomfort affect everyone the same way?

Not at all! Studies show that four out of five people will pass through the reactivation cycles toward good health with almost no discomfort. But I believe, with eczema, you can expect reactions that vary from mild to intense. Like I said in the beginning of this article, the more medical drugs, such as cortisone and herbal formulas you have taken to suppress the eczema, the longer the reactivation and retracing phase will be.

But these are new aches and pains!

That's right. When the negative momentum is stopped (in my case stopping the use of cortisone cream and herbal formulas), your body turns around and takes the road back to good health. One thing you can be sure of, that road is the same as the one you took toward eczema, but the symptoms you experience can be entirely new because going back over a bump can be a different experience than hitting it the first time from the opposite direction. Because of the rerouting of your body's healing energy as you improve, the symptoms may actually be as severe as they were before and sometimes worse, but you can be sure they won't last nearly as long and that as a result of this reactivating you will be getting better. A natural eczema cure takes time and effort, but it's well worth it.
Symptoms during detox may actually be as severe
as they were before and sometimes worse.

What can you do to help your body during detoxification?

To gain the greatest advantage during the process of healing, the body must be given all available energy. Keep in mind that it is the body that orchestrates the process of healing as it has energies and nutrients available. Not before. Therefore, whatever the body dictates through symptoms during a process of healing should be heeded to best conserve energy for the body to get the full benefit of the healing cycle.
The key is that symptoms are not the enemy, but simply the body's attempt to overcome the enemy and return to health. To this end, as you pursue and eczema cure and to conserve energy, generally:
  • Physical exertion should be avoided;
  • Little or no food taken in - let appetite dictate specific foods, juices and amounts if anything at all is desired;
  • Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Even more is helpful;
  • Avoid any substances which are toxic to the body - even if cravings are present;
  • Self induced emotional and mental activity should be kept to a minimum;
  • Avoid any medication or other "remedies" such are herbal formulas;
  • Mild exercise is beneficial as the body dictates (walking or using a rebounder);
  • And, enjoy the healing benefits of extra sleep, rest and naps.
Assurance of symptoms being detoxification symptoms:

Often those who have changed their diet for the better want to know if the symptoms they are experiencing (swelling, diarrhea, etc.) are those of detoxification or whether they are the worsening of the eczema disease process. With few exceptions, it can safely be assured that if the diet is better, not even perfect, just better, whatever symptoms come along are of the detoxification/healing variety. A natural eczema healing process can occur for you, but it takes patience.

How long to health?

As always, the answer depends on a number of things. How sick you are, how long you have been suffering, how long you have been on medications, and your attitude toward being well must all be taken into account. Whatever the cause and whatever road you are taking toward improvement, your body will never make changes any faster than it can deal with these changes. You are not getting sick, you are getting well. Your body was built to survive. Think of how good you'll feel when you've reached the end of the road to good health!

Positive results I'm now experiencing because of the diet and the whole food supplements I'm recommending you to follow on this website:

Cool temperatures have been known to be one of the main triggers of eczema flare-ups as it causes the skin to dry up excessively.
For people who are dealing with recurring eczema, winter is especially a challenging season as not only does one have to deal with the embarrassing telltale flakes, this condition brings about a number of symptoms such as extreme itchiness.
However, prevention is always better than cure when it comes to providing prompt and proactive eczema treatment.
There are things that you can actually do to prevent eczema flare-up during winters, all of which are geared towards ensuring the skin is properly moisturized.

Cold Air

The skin becomes exceptionally dry during winter during to the low humidity, cold air as well as the regular use of central heating system, which can cause dry air to become even drier. As a result, the skin grows flaky, rough and itchy, especially for people who have existing eczema problems.

Winter Soothers

Here are the top 3 recommended natural eczema treatments during winter season to keep the skin smooth and moisturized:

Olive Oil

Olive oil is packed with antioxidants that can effectively aid in reducing inflammation that is closely associated with eczema. In fact, many moisturizers sold in the market today use olive oil as its main ingredient base. The great thing is, for eczema sufferers, using olive oil on its own instead of store-bought moisturizers can help you steer clear from chemical irritants that can aggravate the eczema condition.
With the antioxidant properties, olive oil can help prevent eczema flare-ups as well as aid in repairing skin damage that can lead to the development of brown spots and wrinkles.

Oatmeal Bath

All throughout the centuries, oatmeal has been widely used as a skin soother. In a number of studies, it has been found that oats contain avenanthramides, which is recognized as the key compound that can help calm inflammation and soothe itchy skin.
If you are suffering from extreme itchiness, one of the tried and tested home eczema treatments is to add whole oats in a hot bath. To prevent messy cleanup, you can store the oat in a clean, dry sock before dropping the sock filled with oats in your bath water. Soak the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes.

 Avoid Perfumes

Unknown to many, fragrances are among the most common irritants that can trigger eczema. When choosing products, especially moisturizes, you should choose hypoallergenic formulations that are free from additives, color and fragrance that can set off an eczema attack.

Healthy skin have been elusive for people with eczema who have to deal with red, flaky, broken skin, bringing  misery and stress to long-term sufferers.
A lot of people seem to rely on OTC and prescription medication for eczema treatment. But as I have tirelessly stressed in most of my posts here, in order to introduce lasting cure, healing must start from within.
This brings us to the introduction of juicing as part of an effective eczema diet. One of the key cause of bad skin is poor diet. While one cannot claim juicing to be the sole, ultimate cure, it is certainly a viable addition in any eczema treatment plan. In fact, juicing has been used for years in treating a number of major skin diseases such as psoriasis, dermatitis and of course eczema.

Underlying Causes Of Bad Skin

Eczema is often aggravated by skin allergies as well as direct contact with irritants. Foods that are commonly associated with skin allergies that you will want to avoid include:
  • Coffee
  • Wheat
  • Nuts
  • Eggs
  • Soya
  • Cow’s milk / dairy products
  • Alcohol
Since the skin is the largest organ of the human body, it also serves as the key channel in eliminating toxins, along with the kidneys and liver. There are certain foods and nutrients that can help in eliminating toxins in the body, which include the following:
  • Foods that are high in fiber
  • Water
  •  Nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables

What To Juice?

When it comes to dealing with eczema, among the highly recommended vegetables to include in juicing is the cucumber, which is a rich source of silica, a form of mineral that aids in promoting skin elasticity. When juicing cucumber for eczema treatment, find the unwaxed and organically grown ones.
Other great options include red and yellow bell peppers, which are known to be a great source of Vitamin C, acting as a potent antioxidant, which is vital for helping protect skin cells from the harmful and damaging effects of free radicals.
You can also consider juicing other citrus fruits along with kiwi, mangoes, pineapples and green vegetables. In addition, blueberries present an excellent choice for juicing as it has been found to have high concentrations of antioxidants.

The result of an abnormal functioning of the immune system, combined with genetically weak skin barrier, is what causes eczema.
Apart from sudden environmental changes like humidity and temperature, eczema may also be trigged by eating particular foods or exposure on external allergens that result to the weakening of the skin barrier.
Because eczema occurrences are primarily brought about by poor nutrition and low immune system, it is essential that we build up a stronger immune system to fully achieve an eczema-free life.
There are different prescribed medications in the market today. However, such medications do not provide a cure for eczema. Rather, they only suppress the symptoms and weaken the already volatile immune system.
With that, natural remedies are the best solutions for treating eczema. There are various eczema treatment plans aimed at achieving long lasting results. Below are some of them.
Sea Salt Bath. Sea salt bath is good for external skin protection. Not only does it help eliminate dead skin cells of the body but also, it is suitable for curing eczema. Because it contains high levels of minerals, sea salt is ideal for soothing inflammations, reducing pain, hydrating tissues and improving circulation of the immune system. For local treatments, you can just use small amounts of sea salt. Or you can have a whole body bath for a more soothing effect. Simply add a cup or two of unrefined high quality sea salt to a bath tub full of warm water. For a more relaxing experience, just add a few drops of natural herbal oils. Indulge in the bath for fifteen minutes. Sea salt baths work by detoxifying your body and opening your skin pores, thus allowing your body to sweat sans the skin irritation.
Calendula Cream. This is another type of natural cure for eczema proven to help in the blood flow to the skin’s damaged area. Calendula cream contains moisturizing, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties perfect for the production of collagen proteins in the body.
Aloe Vera Juice. This miracle plant can cure burns, sooth itching, moisturize the skin, and reduce inflammation. This plant, especially when freshly obtained, can provide you great relief in a matter of minutes. Also, Aloe Vera juice, which is 99% pure are just as effective as the organic ones. You can use the juice at any time of the day to cure eczema.
Olive Oil. Olive oil is an exceptional skin moisturizing agent, thanks to its high levels of Vitamin E. When used for curing eczema, go for a cold-pressed, extra virgin, unrefined olive oil. Because the olive oil sticks to the skin for a longer period of time, it will help keep the skin moisturized extensively.
Fundamentally, no amount of miracle or medicines can help you to permanently treat eczema. You need to be determined to change your lifestyle. Considering these natural cures for eczema may seem like it’s so hard to integrate these in your day to day life. But as long as you keep in mind your ultimate goal- to achieve a strong immune system, you are definitely on your way to having a healthier and stronger you.

There was a time that people steered clear of coconut oil. Because it contained high levels of saturated fat, it was erroneously tagged as unhealthy. Researches later on, however, revealed that saturated fats are healthy; it is trans fats that is described as “bad” fats.
Coconuts are commonly found in the tropics. It is the source of virgin coconut oil which is hailed for its medicinal properties, including as an effective treatment for eczema skin.
What makes coconuts medicinal is its high medium-chain fatty acid (MCFA) content, which is noted for its ability to prevent heart disease and for lowering the risk of atheroscleroris. Aside from that, MCFA also aids in treating the damaged skin as it enters the cell structures of our connective tissues. Because of this, it is widely celebrated as an excellent and organic way of treating eczema as well as other skin disorder.
MCFA serves as a protection of our skin, thus, preventing us from developing skin infections caused by bacteria and other organism. It is advisable for us to apply coconut oil since ordinary soap washes off the acid that serves as our skin’s protective layer.
There are different types of coconut oil products available in the market today. For the best results, you should either choose the organic coconut oil, or the virgin coconut oil. Ordinary coconut oil is not recommended because it comes from copra, or sun-dried meat of the coconut which are exposed to the air as well as to insects and molds. Copra is usually processed to make refined, bleached and deodorized coconut oil with the use of intense heat and chemicals.
Another thing that separates the virgin variety from the ordinary coconut oil is that the former smells fragrant while the latter does not.
Aside from lathering your skin with virgin coconut oil, you can also incorporate this into your diet using any of the suggested recipes below.
ith so much facts found about the coconut oil, there are now cookbooks written for its use as a key ingredient in recipes. As an Asian living near the Tropics, I have been brought up eating food that makes use of the coconut. My all time favorite is the Coconut Rice. We cook this, with other accompanying dishes, every time we have guests from other parts of the world coming over for dinner.

It is highly recommended that all of the produce, meat and grains that you choose to consume should be from organically grown sources .

Timing of Eating - Natural Body Cycle:

You should eat in compliance with the body's metabolic cycle . The body seems to have three different metabolic periods which cycle every 24 hours.
  1. Elimination and maintenance period: From 4am to noon the cells are dumping waste products, and manufacturing and/or repairing cells. Choose foods for breakfast that allow your body to continue the process of elimination and maintenance.

  2. Digestive period: From noon to 8pm the body's metabolism is geared towards digestion. Since digestion of foods demands a tremendous amount of energy, it would make sense to eat the biggest meal our body can digest between noon and 8pm (Cousens, pp. 101-102). The earlier within this time frame, the better (I personally eat my biggest meal between 3:30 and 6pm).

  3. Assimilation period: From 8pm to 4am the body is mobilizing nutrients and directing them to the cells.
Eating in compliance with these three metabolic periods will afford more efficient digestion, assimilation, cleansing and maintenance of the cells and therefore proper healing can occur.

Here's how I've learned to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner so that what I eat honors the function of the metabolic periods.
Breakfast:

Start your day with fruits. They are the simplest and most efficient way for the body to produce energy and to continue the process of elimination and maintenance.

  • Eat some raw fruits in the morning: apples (eat the skin also), pears, oranges, bananas....etc. or,

  • Make a fruit smoothie. Add into the blender with some spring water or fresh coconut water, some of your favorite fruits. Examples: bananas, mangos, papayas, figs, different types of berries, peaches, dates, apricots and coconut meat. The only fruits not to add in the smoothie mix are melons, blueberries and grapefruit. It is recommended that you eat these fruits separately. If you are worried about the sugar content of the fruits, then choose your fruits from the low-glycemic foods family to start your day with. Here's a list: apples, oranges, cherries, peaches, all berries, plums and pears. These fruits will release their glucose into the blood more slowly and thus require a more moderate insulin response.
Add to your smoothie two tablespoons of golden flax seeds freshly ground in a coffee grinder and the

following super food supplements: wild crafted blue green algae, green drink mix, organic unheated coconut oil and probiotics. It is highly recommended that you add all of the superfood supplements in your morning smoothie.
Lunch:

Lunch time occurs during the digestion period. I recommend you eat this meal before 4pm.

For cooking use either fresh, unheated coconut oil or ghee (clarified butter). For cold preparation, use extra virgin olive oil. Veggies are either lightly steamed or raw.

Choose from the following lunch meals:
  1. Salmon and vegetables.

  2. Halibut and vegetables.

  3. Oysters and vegetables

  4. Brown rice and vegetables.

  5. Sweet potatoes and vegetables.

  6. Potatoes and vegetables.

  7. Boiled eggs and vegetables.

  8. Soft raw goat cheese and vegetables.

  9. Ezekiel or Manna bread (sprouted grains) with avocado, tomato, cilantro, and/or olives.

  10. Vegetable soup and ezekiel bread or salad.

  11. Large salad with an assortment of vegetables with added raw nuts or soft raw goat cheese. Make your own fresh salad dressing, (my favorite recipe is a mix of raw almond butter, apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon, tamari sauce, maple syrup, cumin powder, garlic powder, and some fresh assortment of herbs).

  12. Steamed green beans with boiled potatoes and a small salad.

  13. Miso soup, brown rice and steamed vegetables.

  14. Sauted mushrooms in coconut oil with tamari sauce for taste mixed with brown rice and a small salad.

  15. Mashed potatoes using coconut milk and butter, with sauted mushrooms in tamari sauce and a small salad.
Dinner:

Dinner time occurs during the digestion period. I recommend you eat this meal by 8pm.A glass of vegetable juice at night is the most important meal to help you heal from eczema quickly. Make sure you drink a 16 to 24 oz. dark green veggie juiceevery night . (This veggie juice would consist mostly of dark green vegetables such as parsley, kale, cucumber, zucchini, bell peppercelery and cilantro).
Some recommended vegetables for nightly juice:
  • Celery - two stalks. Celery gives the body a natural diuretic effect and aids in the elimination of carbon dioxide from the body. The sodium content will neutralize acid ash (residue of acidic foods) in the body,

  • Parsley - 1/2 bunch. Extremely high in nutrients. An excellent cleanser and potentiator of all bodily functions.

  • Carrots - Two med. size. Because most of the phytochemicals are located at the top part of the carrot, don't cut the top off, instead leave the hat part, but discard the green shoots.

  • Cilantro - 1/4 bunch. Has the ability to remove mercury, lead, cadmium and other heavy metals from the body.

  • Kale - 2 to 3 leaves. A very nutrient rich vegetable. One of the best cancer fighting vegetables found on our planet. Kale is the richest of all leafy greens in carotenoids (powerful anti-cancer agents). Kale's calcium content is easily assimilated, making it a wonder food for arthritis, osteoporosis, bone loss disorders and skin health.

  • Cucumber - 1/2 cucumber. A great diuretic (helps remove excess fluids from the body because it promotes urination). Excellent as a blood cleanser. (If you burn your skin, cut a cucumber open and apply it for relief from pain.)

  • An apple to sweeten your juice.
Add and alternate, in very moderate amounts, to your basic vegetable juice every night: 1/4 beet, some cabbage, zucchini, bell pepper, bok choy... etc.
If you are still hungry after this drink, eat some raw (organic whenever possible) nuts and/or seeds. Pine nuts (highest protein content of all nuts), walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds (unsalted and raw), and soaked almonds.
Sometimes, you might come back from work too tired to juice, we suggest you make a bowl of salad, add raw nuts and toss. Make sure you make your own fresh salad dressing.
Snacks:
  1. Fresh or dehydrated fruits (avoid dehydrated fruits if you are diabetic).
  2. Freshly cut up vegetables like cucumber or carrots.
  3. Unsalted nuts or seeds.

For natural healing, a complete program is necessary. A natural cure for eczema requires not only avoiding food allergies, but also following a complete and balanced nutritional program and including exercise, relaxation, social harmony, contentment. In short, a lifestyle in line with natural living - are necessary for complete healing of eczema through natural means.

If health means wholeness, then we must eat clean, nutrient-rich foods, avoid food allergies, drink clean water, and breathe clean air, be active, develop harmonious relationships, live in harmony with our environment, and feel content with life.

The following recommendations, however, will only concentrate on dietary strategies for healing eczema, particularly food allergies and how to remove offending foods.

The following nutritional strategies are easy to do. It was very important for me to apply a doable and tasty diet for my own healing. Avoiding food allergies and following this nutritional program worked in reversing my eczema and I'm now experiencing the best state of health and vitality I have ever experienced (in 50+ years). You need to read the following nutritional strategies and apply what is doable for you in your own lifestyle.

Before & After
Foods That Can Cause Allergies - Removing Offending Foods!

Below are a list of foods that should be avoided because they cause food allergies leading to eczema. When you remove these offending foods from your diet allergic reactions diminish and so does the eczema.

  • Remove strong acid producing foods such as beef, chicken and pork for at least 90 days and if you become successful at doing this, then set another goal for an additional 90 days - soon you won't miss these foods. If you must eat some of these meats, at least reduce the amounts significantly. If you don't have a list of alkaline and acid foods, contact us and we'll email you this list. An ideal diet should be proportioned at 75 percent alkalizing foods, and 25 percent acidifying foods. The body needs more alkalizing foods than acidifying foods. It really is as simple as that. Contact me if you would like to have me email you a list of alkaline and acid foods.

Foods are of two types, acid and alkaline. This refers to the residual ash value of a food. (Meaning the type of residue that remains after the food is digested and processed inside of your body). Your body works best when your internal environment is just above pH 7.00 - just to the alkaline side of neutral. If there is an acid residue, the body must neutralize this acid to keep the blood from getting acidic. The acid residue is neutralized with alkaline (minerals). Ideally, there are adequate alkaline substances in the diet to do this. However, if there are not, the body must extract alkaline (minerals) from its cells to neutralize the acid. This causes the cells to become acidic, and eventually diseased.

Many of the health models in our society today recommend eating a high-protein diet, or specifically as, Dr. Gabriel Cousens M.D., calls it a flesh-centered diet. It is true that this type of diet may make you feel good initially, especially for hypoglycemic individuals, because it helps to balance the blood sugar. But you have to understand that there is also a stimulating effect from the adrenaline released by the animal flesh.

Animal flesh also has a high concentration of uric acid, which is close to caffeine in chemical structure, and may also have a stimulatory effect. Initially these effects may seem beneficial. After several months on a high-protein diet, some people begin to feel toxified and arthritic. This is usually because it takes a few months to experience the full effects of the toxic load that comes from the high-protein diet (acid-ash producing foods).

Beef, pork and chicken are some of the most acidifying foods and I recommend you avoid them as you move forward in your healing program. If you cannot avoid meat in your diet, at least try to reduce the number of times meat is consumed from daily to twice weekly. Then once weekly! Also, try to make certain that when you buy your beef, pork or chicken, that it is organically fed, free-range, and free of antibiotics and growth hormones.

You noticed that I didn't include fish in this list. Fish is also an acid producing food, but it can also provide some valuable nutrients if consumed once in a while, especially oily fish. Unlike beef, pork and chicken, fish is a good source for strengthening bones with its high content of essential fatty acids, calcium and vitamin D. Essential fatty acids are important nutrients for the health of your skin.

An ideal diet should be proportioned at 75 percent alkalizing foods, and 25 percent acidifying foods. The body needs more alkalizing foods than acidifying foods. It really is as simple as that.

  • Remove all dairy products (cheese and milk) . A common food allergy among those with eczema is dairy, particularly cheese and milk produced from cows. This is because the protein molecules are large and more difficult to digest. Cheese and milk are also acid producing foods. If you cannot avoid them, then buy raw goat-based cheese (the soft kind) or raw goat milk. Raw goat-based foods leave alkaline ash residue. Try non-dairy milks. These are made from rice or nuts. Do not use soy milk as it will disrupt mineral absorption in your digestive tract.

  • Avoid grains that are considered high-glycemic foods. They force a sharp rise in insulin production, as their sugars are absorbed by the intestines too quickly and cause a hormonal imbalance in the body. Examples of high-glycemic grains are corn chips, instant processed grain mixes (i.e., puffed wheat), cakes, pies, pastry, processed breakfast cereals, instant grain cereals, white rice and white flour pastas.

  • Avoid breads containing yeast. People can have food allergies to bread because breads ferment in our bodies, and become food for germs and fungus normally present in the intestine. Germs and fungus will produce alcohol from breads. If you eat a lot of bread, your body can make up to half an ounce of alcohol in your intestine every day. Alcohol is toxic because it interferes with many different enzymes in your body. Alcohol has a particularly bad effect on a group of enzymes that are the main workers in the body's detoxification system. Alcohol also interferes with the activity of key enzymes in the transformation of fatty acids into hormones. This is one of the main reasons why people who daily eat a lot of bread made with yeast or drink alcoholic beverages, may have hormonal imbalances. e.g., severe menopausal symptoms, enlarged prostate....etc., and skin problems (Baker, pp. 30-31).

A long time ago someone figured out that wheat flour could be leavened with some of the residue from the wine-making process, and subsequently the residue from the leavening could be passed on in the dough, some of which could be saved as a "starter" to make more dough. The particular fungus in question constitutes a large fungal family called yeasts. So please avoid breads made with yeast.

It may be prudent to consume types of bread that cause less food allergies. These would be breads made from whole rye and leavened with lactobacillus. Also, try unleavened breads that contain no flour, yeast, sugars or oils, and only include the fiber and germ of the whole grain. They are made from sprouted grains, slightly chopped, molded to a loaf and either sun-dried or baked at a very low temperature. The grains are usually some combination of sprouted spelt, millet, flax, oats, kamut, amaranth or quinoa.

  • Remove hydrogenated oils and margarine from your diet. These foods have been altered to the point where they are labeled "plastic foods". Simply put, the hydrogenation process ruins the foods' nutritional value. Avoid them completely. Use the following healthy oils for your salads or for cooking your meals:

Cold preparation (condiments and salad dressings - 120F/49C): Flax seed oil, hemp seed oil, or walnut oil.

Low heat (Sauces and baking - 212F/100C): Safflower oil, sunflower oil and pumpkin oil.

Medium heat (Light sauteing - 325F/163C): Sesame oil, almond oil or olive oil.

High heat (Browning or frying - 375F/190C): Coconut oil or ghee (clarified butter).

Do your best to always use unrefined cold-pressed organic oils.

  • Avoid non-foods (i.e. salt, alcohol, regular and decaffeinated coffee and tea, regular and diet soft drinks, artificial sweeteners, preservatives, food colorings, additives and man-made synthetic vitamin and mineral supplements, etc.). Avoid enriched flours, even though they may be from organic whole wheat. The word "enriched" means synthetic vitamins and minerals are added to the food.

  • Avoid artificial sweeteners . Artificial sugars are chemical additives. They are man-made substances. One of these well known artificial sugars, for example, is composed of three ingredients which are natural, but are never found together in nature in such a combination. It is composed of two amino acids, phenylalanine and aspartic acid, as well as methyl alcohol, also known as methanol.

Methanol is a deadly metabolic poison. One of the reasons methanol is so toxic is because the body lacks the necessary enzymes to detoxify it. Its rate of elimination is five times slower than a similar amount of ethyl alcohol, as found in whisky, beer and wine. For this artificial sugar to be eliminated, the body must first convert it to formaldehyde, then to formic acid and ultimately to carbon dioxide.

One 12 ounce can of most artificially sweetened soft drinks contain about 10 mg of methanol. With this artificial sweetener found in over 80,000 products today, an individual can easily exceed 100 mg. daily, 13 times the limit recommended by the EPA (Gold, pp. 25-26).

If you must use a sweetener, use organic unprocessed sugar cane or a truly natural and healthful alternative such as the juice from the Brazilian shrub, Stevia, which is 30 to 40 times sweeter than sucrose. Stevia has been used as a sweetener in South America for hundreds of years and in Japan for 20 years. Two drops of the liquid extract equals one teaspoon of table sugar and is less than one calorie. One teaspoon of finely ground Stevia powder is equivalent to one cup of sugar.

  • Except as noted below, avoid soy products. Soy products did not serve as food until fermentation techniques were developed. Fermented soy products have been used for many centuries in the Orient. Precipitated (Western) soy products can cause serious health problems because most of them are not fermented.

Among the harmful substances in soy are potent enzyme inhibitors, which block the action of trypsin and other enzymes needed for protein digestion. Apparently, cooking does not deactivate these enzyme inhibitors, and they can produce serious digestive problems such as reduced protein digestion, chronic deficiencies in amino acid uptake, enlargement of the pancreas and cancer. Fermentation deactivates these enzyme inhibitors.

Soybeans are also high in phytic acids which block the uptake of essential minerals in the intestinal tract, including such important ones as calcium, magnesium, iron and especially zinc. Again, only the process of fermentation will significantly reduce the phytate content of soy products.

Avoid tofu, soy milk, soy baby formula, soy yogurt, soy ice cream, soy cheese, soy flour for baking, and soy protein that vegetarians often use as a meat substitute.

Exceptions: Good soy products are fermented soy products such as tempeh, miso and tamari sauce.
